Denia, Costa Blanca, Spain.

Denia, the capital of the Marina Alta, is a modern cosmopolitan town on the Costa Blanca, halfway between Alicante and Valencia. A partial ruin of a fortress stands right in the middle of the town. The Moors originally built the fortress, and the French, who occupied the city for four years during the War of the Spanish Succession, re-built it in the early 19th century. A community of English raisin traders lived in Denia from 1800 until the time of the Spanish Civil War in the late 1930s.

There are daily Denia to Ibiza Ferry services, and you can see Ibiza and Mallorca on a clear day.
As is the case with all the resorts in this area it is the beaches which provide the main attraction to visitors and Denia is no exception. For a change of scene you can easily spend a day visiting Javea just along the coast, or you can head further south to the multitude of theme parks which surround Benidorm. Golfers will find plenty golf courses available around the Costa Blanca including the recent development at Oliva Nova Golf Resort just outside of Denia to the north.

Denia is located on the Costa Blanca, approximately 90 kms drive north of Alicante airport and 110 kms south of Valencia airport.
