Spanish Football Round-up Week 32Sunday, 26 April 2009 Athletic Bilbao 2 1 Racing Santander By half time Bilbao were two up, a Llorente headed the first, then David López converted a penalty after Llorente was tripped. Pinillos got one back from the penalty spot after the restart, but that was the end of the goal scoring. Atletico Madrid 3 1 Sporting Gijon Diego Forlán got the first for Atletico with a long shot and then set up Simao for the second shortly before half time. Agüero made it three soon after the restart, and Bilic replied at the other end a minute later. Espanyol 2 0 Real Betis Espanyol climbed out of the relegation spots for the first time in over 4 months after beating Real Betis. Luis García gave them an early lead and Román Martínez made sure of the victory with seven minutes to go. Getafe 1 2 Villarreal Capdevila put Villarreal and Llorente made it two close to half time. Manu Del Moral got one back from the penalty, but it was not enough to prevent another defeat which leaves Víctor Muñozs side just a point above the drop zone. Recreativo Huelva 2 4 Mallorca Goals from Jurado and Arango put Mallorca two up with only a quarter of an hour gone, and although Sisi got one back soon after the restart, Castro restored the two goal cushion a few minutes later. Camuñas scored a second for the locals, but Keitas third in four days was enough to take the three points. Sevilla 2 4 Real Madrid Real Madrid closed the gap on Barcelona to 4 points after they beat Sevilla. Renato headed Sevilla into the lead, but Raúl completed a hattrick by the hour mark before Capel scored for Sevilla with eight minutes to go, but Marcelo scored in injury time to set up an exciting clash with the Barcelona next weekend in Madrid. Valladolid 0 0 Osasuna Chances were few and far between but a point for Osasuna was welcomed. They now have to face relegation rivals Recreativo and Getafe before finishing off the season against the top three. Saturday, 25 April 2009 Almeria 2 1 Numancia Bottom club Numancia appear to be heading back to the second division after defeat at Almería. Kalu Uche gave the home side the lead in the seventh minute, and a good run by Negredo laid on the second for Soriano. The visitors didnt give up the fight though, and Goiria headed one back after the restart. Malaga 1 1 Deportivo La Coruna Málaga and Deportivo are both pushing for a place in UEFA next season, and Malaga stay a point ahead of their rivals after a draw. Albert Luque put the locals ahead on the half hour mark, but Sergio levelled the scores with a header from Guardados cross soon after the restart. Valencia 2 2 Barcelona A dingdong battle between Valencia and Barcelona ended with the points being shared. Barcelona with Messi finishing off a quick passing move with Iniesta. Valencia came back with two goals in two minutes just before half time, Maduro turning in Silvas corner and Pablo Hernández picking up Matas return pass and running on to beat Valdés. Guardiolas side equalised again though with five minutes to go, Henry lobbing the ball in to the net. |
